PROJECT INFORMATION

"When clad in luminous terracotta panels , the building will be at once quiet and alive, neutral and filled with colour, changing with the time of the day and point of view.

From an AIA publication 2005

Design process

Brief: A white colour for the exterior facade, that can change subtly from different views at light, with an opalescence quality.

"The glaze is developed by artist Christine Jetten in keeping with the museum's craft tradition. The potential of the building will be revealed in bringing new vision and life. The panels are key feature of the design. Looking for 'life' in the building and the glaze." The Wall Street Journal
